After the match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2024, former Australian cricketer Shane Watson expressed his disbelief at KKR’s victory, stating that they didn’t deserve to win after losing five wickets early in the game. KKR secured a 24-run victory against MI at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday, thanks to a remarkable performance by Mitchell Starc.

Watson, a former IPL champion with Chennai Super Kings, criticized some of the decisions made by MI during the match, including bowling changes and batting lineup deployment, which he found baffling. He emphasized that despite the challenging position KKR found themselves in, they showed remarkable fight and determination to clinch the win.

According to Watson, this victory will boost KKR’s confidence, proving that they can win even when not at their best.

In the match, KKR posted a total of 169 runs, powered by a solid partnership between Venkatesh Iyer and Manish Pandey. MI, in their chase, fell short and were bundled out for 145 runs. Starc’s exceptional performance, with figures of 4-33, played a significant role in KKR’s victory.

Following this win, KKR holds the second spot in the IPL 2024 standings with 14 points, while MI sits in ninth place with 6 points.

KKR’s next match is against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday.
